Recruitment and Retention

The Recruitment & Retention Committee is responsible for raising the awareness of the school to potential prospects and, in addition to the other committees at the school, generate a sense of family and well-being amongst the current parent and student body.  The committee conducts its outreach to prospects through many ways, including advertisement, participation in external events, sponsoring Open Houses and other internal events to showcase the school.  The committee members personally reach out, in addition to our principal Ricki Budelman to prospects to share our own school experiences.  For purposes of ensuring a high rate of Retention, the committee members help organize, or work with other committees to do so, some of the school social events.  These events help our parent body meet parents of children in the same or different grades, helping to understand what to expect for your child in the current year or in the future.

Although I am as busy as any parent, I continue to devote as much time as possible to the committee.  I do so because the welfare of the school is important to my children's future, I enjoy interacting and learning from the parents of other children, I want to understand what is happening in the school, and it is a way to give back to the growth of the Jewish community.

I urge each parent to consider joining this committee and helping to ensure the steady growth of the school.

Fundraising

My name is Nancy Kleinfeld. Neil Burns asked me to assist with fundraising for the 2006-2007 school year. I was very hesitant to come on "board" because my time is limited and I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to give it my best. However, my schedule is flexible so I agreed to do what I could, to help. It has been a wonderful experience for many reasons. It was an opportunity to give back to SSA in appreciation for the three years each of my two daughters had at the school. I believe the caring and stimulating environment for those few years have made a big difference in each of their lives.

Secondly, I've interfaced with so many people in the jewish community that I probably wouldn't have, if not for serving on the board. It has also been a tremendous experience being an intregal part of a "team" who's sole purpose is to protect, maintain and promote this special place for this and future generations. From a fundraising standpoint, I'm grateful for the generousity of our parents, staff, and the community who support our events and efforts because as we all know, it's a real privledge to have a Solomon Schechter School in our neighborhood. And lastly, the support, help, energy and committment of the other parents involved in fundraising has been amazing! It really is a joint effort so I've really only had to do what I could! But the funny thing is...I wish I had the time to do more!!!
