Judaic Instruction

Solomon Schechter Academy is an independent Jewish Day School affiliated with the Solomon Schechter Day School movement.  The school strives to inculcate in its students a profound knowledge and appreciation of Jewish traditions and Jewish life as interpreted by the United Synagogue of America.  Students will be guided into a way of life steeped in Jewish values and practices while recognizing the community.  It is our expectation that the educational program of Solomon Schechter Academy will instill Jewish ethics and values as the standard by which students will make decisions in all aspects of their lives.  In short, we seek to enable our students to see the world  through Jewish eyes.

It is our intent that students will acquire the following:

• A well-developed self esteem and pride in themselves as individuals, as Jews, and as members of the general society
• Respect for the integrity and feelings of others
• A desire to participate in and perpetuate Jewish life through ritual and cultural observance
• Relative fluencey in Hebrew as a living language
• A cognitive foundation in general and Judaic knowledge.
• A commitment to learning for its own sake
• A love of Zion as reflected by the modern state of Israel
